*Note: please be noted that as each piece of ceramics is handmade, the colour glazes and shapes/sizes vary slightly. This is the beauty of handmade crafts as they are all one-of-a-kind.

Koji Aoki has his very unique style of creating colour glazes for his ceramics. “Komparu” (金春) colour is one of his symbolic colours which he applies to most of his ceramic works.

* “Komparu” colour is a greenish blue colour. It is formally specified in Japanese traditional colour of “Shinbashi colour”. During Edo period, geishas who excelled in dancing and singing came to Komparu Street in Shinbashi District, making the area become a popular entertainment quarter. In this entertainment quarter, “Komparu” colour had become the most popular colour among Komparu geishas in the end of Meiji period.
